Our Name Has Changed!

In 2021 Refuge for Wildlife changed its name to International Animal Rescue Costa Rica (IAR Costa Rica).  International Animal Rescue (IAR) is an international NGO with experience working with wildlife rescue and conservation around the world. Since 2017, International Animal Rescue has partnered with Refuge for Wildlife and provided funding and shared expert knowledge that has helped us grow and improve.

Although our name and logo are changing, the team in Nosara will remain the same and our rescue center will continue to operate in the same way as it has previously. We will continue to have our 24-hour wildlife emergency hotline 8824 3323 and rescue team, an onsite clinic with a full-time veterinarian, and the expert staff that has been dedicated to saving injured and orphaned wildlife all these years.

Brenda Bombard, Refuge for Wildlife founder, said that seeing the succession of Refuge for Wildlife to IAR has been a dream come true and that the project is now on a solid footing to continue protecting wildlife into the future.

International Animal Rescue Executive Director, Gavin Bruce, said: “We are very happy to see the way that the project in Nosara has developed; although we have all been working together for some time, we are delighted to formally welcome this dedicated and passionate group of people to the IAR family”.

IAR Costa Rica has been registered as a new Costa Rican foundation and we have some big plans for the future, we promise to keep you updated as our plans unfold.
